Unit 1 Assignment

Budget- The budget is the amount of money spent for the production of the certain video that will be made. This is therefore spent on equipment that helps in producing the video such as lighting and other things such as green screen equipment. The purpose of the budget is to ensure that all the things required for the production of the video are available.

Crew list-The crew list is a list of people that are meant to be involved with the video. The crew list therefore contains of the people and the different roles in which they have to do such as being in the actual video or ensuring that the camera work is done in order to produce a quality video that will meet all the requirements of the audience. The crew list is very important as this helps in making sure that people are available when required.

Story board-The storyboard provides the  plot for narration within the production process to ensure that the story is conveyed in the correct manner to the audience that makes it have an impact. Storyboard is also essiantial as it needs to answers:

  • What is happening?
  • What is the best way to show it?
The storyboard is therefore a production tool and this helps the production of the business as you have to consider things required in the video such as the props, characters and bactkgrounds.

Mood board- a mood board enables an individual to express themselves and is important as this provides ideas that can go towards a certain video in terms of colour scheme and other things such as dress code.A mood board also has to provide ideas as to what to include in the video such as music and other things such as what the video has to suggest.

Risk assessment - The risk assessment that is done before the production of the video mainly for high risk locations to ensure that the people within the video are safe when filming. Therefore this is done to ensure that the crew list is protected.Risks assessments are important as this helps in focusing on the risks that really matter

Location List-The location list provides the places in which things will take place in for example the filming of the video. This is important as this informs people of the places in which they have to be during the course of making the video.

Factual Programming

Factual programming is non-fiction programmes that contain real events and people. Therefore factual programming has issues as producers might face problems with accuracy which is very important as inaccurate information will have an impact on the audience who might take the things on board for example if the programme provides inaccurate information on health this will have a bad impact on people as they may face health problems due to this. Therefore producers have to ensure that the footage they include within their programmes is accurate and not out of date.

Balance of information can also be an issue as journalist will provide information for one side as opposed to the other in order to express their view point an example of this is the information provided within media based on the subject of politics as journalist will favour one side and give agurments that may draw people into opposing the other political parties.

Impartiality is providing arguments for both sides and allowing the public in making the decisions as to what they want based on the information provided. Therefore some producers may face problems with this as they may be biased to one side.

Objectivity is when the producer gives judgement on certain things depending on what they aim and target to achieve.

Subjectivity is when the producer ensures that no opinion is included within the programme therefore preventing the problem of it being unbiased.Opinion is what someone thinks about a certain subject, issue or fact and can be supported by certain arguments based on the topic being discussed.

Bias is when an argument is only one sided meaning that it does not show the others party's argument on the issue and the evidence in which it provides.

Representation is the way things are expressed by producers within a certain programme for example people and place for example the producers may make a certain person seem like they say certain things when they have sayed something different therefore having an impact on them depending on how the public reacts to what the producers require.

Access is the question as to wheather the producer has all the things to succed in the production of the programme therefore requiring preparation.Privacy is the requirements of the production of people within the programme and abiding by people's rules when they don't want to be identified within the programme as the issue they may discuss might affect their life.

The contract also impacts the producers as they have to ensure that they abide by what is within the contract therefore meaning that viewers watch what the programme is said to deliver for example the programme has to show things that do not exceed the age rating.

Panorama:Hunting the internet bullies

This panorama documentary was a documentary based on how cyber bullying is having an impact not only on children and teens but also adults and celebrities. However the documentary also explored as to how the cyber bullies feel about what they do and if they can justify themselves as to what they do when they bully other people.

Use of different sources where used to provide information  such as celebrity cher lloyd who informs the viewers as to how adding people she didn't know on twitter had a bad impact on her since they started saying negative things that resulted in being cyber bullying. Therefore this not only made the viewers more aware of cyber bullying but also other celebrities who may also be in the same situation.

The documentary also shows as to how you can solve the issue of cyber bullying when you are a victim and outcomes of victims who where unaware as to how they could solve this problem where shown as the documentary showed some people who commited suicide due to cyber bullying.

The documentary also shows the parents of the people who were cyber bullied so they could give information as to how their children where affected by cyber bullying and in some cases went on to commit suicide.Teens are also shown to give information on what they know about this issue and a different enviroment is used during this interview as they are shown at a bowling alley in which they show them bowling while discussing about the issue therefore making the doumentary more interesting.

The director of policy within facebook is also shown answering questions asked by students as to how you can report someone when being cyber bullied therefore giving his expert advice and information as to how people can do this and how the facebook team deals with a situation like this.

The documentary also focuses on the websites that people have been victims of cyber bullying one of them being little gossip, facebook and twitter. The documentary also uses the head of a college that is used as a source of information as to how many people are impacted by social networking websites such as little gossip.

The documentary also has the original finder of little gossip to show as to what he thinks about this social networking website that has had a bad impact on others.Other victims are also shown as they give their response to cyber bullying online and the bullies are shown as panorama confronts them to see what they think about what they do and to see what has been done by the law to prevent them from cyber bullying others.

Lesson:3/5/2012

Within this lesson Haris and Kashif went to film more students and teachers so that we could have a big  amount of speakers within our documentary therefore adding more people's opinions and views as to what they thought about cyber bullying.I continued with the editing and thought of ideas as to how we could start our documentary and the things we could do to make the documentary more interesting for example including some statistics and other facts that will have an impact on the audience.

Today's lesson

Today we filmed more teachers and other imagery for our documentary. We also edited some of the footage that we took from the previous lessons and looked for some options of music we could use that will draw our audience.Within our documentary we are aiming at mostly 11-16 year olds as they are within the age range of the people being mostly cyber bullied and also deciding as to how we can layout our documentary in order for the audience to find an interest in what we are doing.
